About the Role
The Theatre Manager is a part-time role essential to the smooth operation of Granite Theatre. This position oversees the day-to-day management of the facility, box office operations, and all volunteer coordination. The Theatre Manager works closely with the Artistic Director, Board of Directors, and production staff to ensure an exceptional experience for patrons, volunteers, and performers. The position requires availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This position is required to be present for performance dates
1. Facility Management:
Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the historic theatre building, ensuring it is clean, safe, and operational.
Coordinate maintenance and repairs with contractors as needed.
Manage utilities, supplies, and facility-related budgets to ensure efficient operations.
2. Box Office Management:
Supervise and manage box office operations, including ticket sales, reservations, and customer inquiries.
Train and oversee box office staff and volunteers to provide outstanding service.
Reconcile daily box office sales and maintain accurate financial records.
3. Volunteer Coordination:
Recruit, train, schedule, and manage all theatre volunteers, including those supporting front-of-house operations (ushers, box office), backstage crews, technical teams, and other production-related roles.
Foster a positive and inclusive environment to enhance volunteer engagement and satisfaction.
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer concerns, feedback, and recognition.
Maintain a database of volunteers and track hours for reporting and milestone recognition.
4. Patron Services:
Deliver excellent customer service to ensure a welcoming environment for all patrons.
Address patron inquiries, feedback, and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Work with the Artistic Director to improve the patron experience and support audience development initiatives.
5. Administrative Support:
Assist the Board of Directors with administrative duties as needed.
Act as a liaison between volunteers, staff, and the Board to ensure effective communication.
Support special events, fundraisers, and educational programs as directed.
6. Compliance and Safety:
Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures for staff, volunteers, and patrons.
Ensure compliance with local regulations related to the operation and maintenance of the historic facility.
Qualifications:
Experience in theatre management, nonprofit operations, or a similar role preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and ticketing systems.
A passion for the performing arts and community engagement.
RI resident preferred
